FAQ's

If you have questions about Scotland History Tours then feel free to send them via the contact form. However here are some questions that others have asked in the past.

We want you to enjoy your Scottish holiday as much as you do. We will do everything to help you have a great holiday in Scotland, so if your question isn't answered here just get in contact.

Will tours operate in bad weather?

One thing you will not be guaranteed in Scotland is good weather. We recommend that you bring appropriate clothing, bearing in mind that you will occasionally go off road and might go on a short boat ride. We will never go far off the roads, but appropriate footwear and rainwear is advisable.

Can we join together with others to make the tour more cost effective?

You can. In fact we have a Facebook page, at the top of which there is a contacts post. This is for the very purpose of allowing folks to communicate with others, who might want to join up on the same day as you. Of course you are free to take a more exclusive option to yourselves. We just want you to have a great day.

Can I changethe number in my party?

We will do everything to accommodate such a change as long as we have availability and capacity.

Do you offer tours about Jacobite history?

Interested in the Jacobite uprisings? Me too. Having performed my show About the Jacobites to a sell-out run at Edinburgh fringe I am delighted to tell you tales and show you sites associated with the Jacobite uprisings as part of a bespoke tour.

If you are specifically interested in the 1745 uprising under Bonnie Prince Charlie in Perthshire area I can do no better than introduce you to the Alba Hussar. Kevin Smith a hugely engaging performer and a real specialist in the 1745 in Perthshire.

He will take you round the residences of Bonnie Prince Charlie’s key commanders and bring their stories to life. Find him HERE

Can we be collected from hotel?

If you have booked a bespoke tour you can indeed be collected from your location. For scheduled tours we will pick you up from the central location indicated on your confirmation.

Can we book a luxury vehicle?

Yes, for an extra fee you can choose from a range of luxury styles, such as a prestige soft top, saloon or 4X4.

Boat Crossing?

The boat crossing to Loch Leven Castle is operated by Historic Environment Scotland. As such we can never guarantee bookings. The boat takes 10 people, so it is advisable to book well in advance. If the boat is already full we will tell you tales from the shoreline and take you for a nice cup of tea and a cake instead.

Disability?

In the scheduled tours it is expected that we will take a boat trip and go slightly off road occasionally. As such people should be able to climb a small bank or get into and out of a boat. If you select a bespoke tour then we can work with you to deal with any mobility issues to make your day work for you.

Cancellation?

What happens in the event we want to cancel? We will do everything possible to offer alternatives. Please see the Terms and Conditions for details
