Flora MacDonald was a heroine the Jacobite rebellion, but wasn't alone. In 1715 Lady Winnifred Maxwell led a daring escape for her husband, 5th Earl of Nithsdale, for Flora to follow in 1745. Bruce Fummey compares Flora and the Countess of Nithsdale.
